etrailer Electric Trailer Brake Kit Installation AKEBRK-2

Speaker 1: Today we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the etrailer electric trailer brake kit with 7" diameter brakes for the left and right-hand assemblies for 2,000 axles, part number AKEBRK-2. Here's what our brakes look like installed on our trailer now. As you can see they rotate nice and smooth because of all the new bearings. We're going to take it out on our test course and show you what the trailer is like without having brakes on it and with having brakes on it, and you can see how big the difference is.When it's going down the road without trailer brakes you can see that there is nothing helping slow down the trailer. It's actually pushing your vehicle along. With brakes on it you can see how the trailer's tires are actually slowing down and not pushing the vehicle towing it. more

Today we're gonna take a look at the Titan eight and a half inch left hand and right hand free-backing hydraulic drum brake assemblies with the Dacromet finish for 3,000 pound axles. Now these are marine grade hydraulic drum brake assemblies, which are great for boat trailers. They are specifically designed for use with surge type trailer brake actuators. These are a free-backing design assembly, which will let you reverse without the trailer brakes being activated. Basically, the hydraulic pressure is contained by the wheel cylinder and the brake shoe turns and releases the pressure when it's reversing. These do have a Dacromet plating to them, which will provide superior corrosion resistance for fresh water or salt water use and they have a 500 hour salt spray rating. more

Today, we're going to take a look at the 12-inch electric trailer brake assembly kit. It includes the left and right hand brake assemblies, and it fits 5200 pound to 7000 pound axles. These are electric brakes, they're a lot easier to install. They offer more user control than hydraulic brakes. They require only an electric brake controller that we do sell separately on our website, so there's no actuator or hydraulic lines necessary. On the pads, they use an automotive-grade friction material, which is molded to the brake shoes, and since they're fully bonded, they're not riveted to the shoes, they give you a lot longer life, more braking torque 00:00:30. Also on these, they have a tapered edge on the pad itself, and they do a circular grinding of the pad, which gives you less chance of cracking and crumbling that could lead to a mechanical lockup. Now, these are manual adjustment brakes, so they do require periodic manual adjustment. At the very bottom here where you adjust them, they do use a fine-tooth brake adjustment here, which allows for a more precise setting, and there's no brake interior that's needed following your initial adjustment. more
